The Gospel Tract

gospel tractHello! My name is Tract. Gospel Tract, that is, but you may just call me GT. I come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and I get around a lot so I am sure that you have seen me at one time or another. I am, by definition, “a propaganda pamphlet, especially one put out by a religious or political group.” At least that’s how one dictionary defines me. I must admit that I do have a lot of relatives both in the secular and religious worlds. Some of my religious relatives have not been the testimony they ought to be because of the things they say about God that are not true, and they do not use the true Word of God as found in the Kings James Bible.

But I wonder, how much do you really know about me?  . . .

Salted Oats

salted oats gospel tractPerhaps you have heard the saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” Even though that saying is old and worn and has become trite, still it is a truth. A farmer brings the horse to the watering trough, but it just stands there. He may do everything in his power to get that stubborn horse to drink; however, if that horse is not ready to drink, he won’t, no matter what the farmer does. On the other hand, if the farmer were to salt the horse’s oats, the horse then being thirsty would want to drink the water.

When we think of the need for lost sinners to receive Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, we know that there is absolutely nothing we ourselves can do to save the sinner, or to convince him of his need of salvation. Sometimes Christians use their best efforts to convince the lost person of the need for salvation, but to no avail. Though the Christian may be sincere in these efforts, he is without power to convince or save anyone. We learn from Jude 15 that it is the Lord Himself who does the convincing. It is no more possible for Christians to convince someone of his need of salvation than it is to give him the faith to be saved.

Someone may say, “There goes one of my converts.” If that person were truly saved, . . .

Genuine Gospel Or Fools Gold

genuine gospel tractGOLD! A much sought after soft, yellow precious metal that for many centuries has been the monetary standard. GOLD has been and is used for a variety of things such as money, jewelry, dental, decoration, plated coating, paint, and much more. GOLD is so valuable that some people will do almost anything to get it, no matter what the cost may be. There’s just no limit to what they will do for GOLD!  They will try to buy it, steal it, prospect for it, risk their lives or the lives of others in getting it, or they will even kill for it: strangers, friends, or family, it matters not!  Once they have it, they will do everything possible to protect it, while living in fear that another person will try to take it from them.

There’s another kind of gold that, at first glance, looks like real gold but when examined more closely it turns out to be pyrite. Pyrite has another name; the nickname “fool’s gold” because it looks so much like the real thing, which it is not. Many miners and prospectors thought they had found GOLD, but they did not. What they actually found was “fool’s gold.” How disappointed they must have been, especially after all the hard work that had been done and money wasted. How sad it must have been!

When we think of the religions of the world today, basically we have the same problem.  . . .

Fundamentalism – Militant vs Passive

WHEN considering the subject of the fundamentals, or fundamentalism, it would do well for one to have an understanding of the terms. Webster’s New World Dictionary defines fundamental thusly, “Of or forming a foundation or basis; basic, essential.” And fundamentalism as, “Orthodox religious beliefs based on a literal interpretation of the Bible and regarded as fundamental to Christian faith.” Funk & Wagnalls defines fundamental as, “Relating to or constituting a foundation; indispensable; basal.” Fundamentalism is defined as: (1) The belief that all statements made in the Bible are literally true. (2) In the United States, a movement among Protestants holding that such belief is essential to Christian faith.”

In recent years fundamentalism and the fundamental movement have increasingly come under attack from those outside of Christianity. Among those are the news media, Norman Lear and his People for the American Way (PAW), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), National Organization of Women (NOW), Fundamentalists Anonymous – the list is almost endless. Opposition to the Word of God and all it teaches is to be expected by those outside of Christ, the unsaved – “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.” (Jer. 6:10) Again, any Christian who has been taught the Word of God is well aware that such attitude and treatment is to be expected from the unsaved crowd, for as our Saviour taught in John 15:18-20, “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”

Within Christianity there are those, though saved, who have not obeyed the Scriptural command to separate themselves from the world. In making reference to the world, two areas are in mind – (1) The physical world we live in and all of its allurements (2) The religious world and its ecumenical involvement. . . .

Ecumenism – The Generic Religion

More and more there is a concerted effort to make all religions blend into one, world wide religion; even some people who claim to be saved are being swept into this.

Gospel Tract Excerpt:

generic religionIn the 1970’s supermarkets began carrying what is known as “generic products.” The items included canned goods, coffee, tea, dehydrated soups, animal food, paper goods, and much more. A generic item is easily recognized by the plain, black and white label on the container it comes in. The colorful packaging and distinctives of the brand name manufacturer have been discarded in the generic product line, leaving allgeneric goods with a look-a-like appearance. When the distinctive label is removed from the container, the brand name goes into oblivion and all that remains is a common, indistinguishable item. To the generic line, distinctives do not exist. In the ecclesiastical realm, the ecumenical movement is to religion what thegeneric line is to consumer products. . . .

Abortion Is Murder

Someone once said that “A rose by any other name is still a rose,” and so it is. It is not uncommon to change the name of something to make it fit or conform to what we want it to be. In the world of political correctness (PC) calling something for what it really is will be met with scorn. Telling a lie is not lying, it’s just a failure to tell the truth. Running a red traffic light is just a failure to yield, being a drunkard is now substance abuse, illegal aliens are undocumented immigrants, chairman has been changed to chairperson, and so the PC mentality goes.

When it comes to abortion, the taking of the life of the unborn, it is a pro-choice matter. Those in favor of “pro-choice” claim that a woman has a right to do with her body what she wants, and that the unborn child is not a person but just a fetus, a piece of unwanted tissue if you will. Governments around the world have given their approval for the abortion process, some even permitting a partial birth abortion. A partial birth abortion takes place as the infant is being born but before it is completely out of the womb. A rose by any other name is still a rose, and murder by any other name is still murder, no matter what the PC people or world governments say or call it. Every abortionist is guilty of murder of the unborn, and every person who assists the abortionist is guilty of being an accomplice of the crime, and all of these people will one day answer to a thrice holy God for what they have done. Someone may ask, “On what authority are such brash statements made?” The answer to this is simple, the Word of God that is forever settled in heaven! Consider a few verses from the Bible and what God has to say about infants as the unborn. . . .

The Gospel Tract About John 3:16

john 3 16John 3:16 is one of the most memorized Bible verses of all time; most people know it. The “John 3:16? is a breakdown of the verse with an explanation. For example:

“SO LOVED”:  Ro. 5:8 “Commendeth” or exhibited. This same TRUE God had such great love for His creation that “…while we were yet sinners …” that is, while we were in the very acts of doing sin.

“WHOSOEVER”: each, any, every, all, everyone. The “whosoever” means every living person has an open invitation. It does not matter how rich or poor, famous or obscure, educated or illiterate, whatever the status in life may be. It does not matter what the degree of sin may be. The “whosoever” means ANYBODY, including you dear reader.

“PERISH”:  to be lost, ruined, destroyed. For the one who trusts Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, it is impossible for him to lose his salvation and go to a devil’s hell. God said it and that settles it!

This tract is printed on 8.5 x 11 paper with a double fold. It is an excellent tract for use in visitation for explaining salvation to a prospect.
