Open for Business 24/7
When we think of a “business” we understand it to mean a place that engages in making money and that is why they exist. Normally a business has hours of operation; hours when they are open for business. When it comes time to close, some businesses such as a department store will announce that the store will be closing and that customers need to proceed to the checkout and leave. Sometimes a customer arrives at a business too late, and the business had closed or, they arrive too early, and the business had not opened. A business that was scheduled to open at a certain time was late opening and potential customers had to wait.
On a spiritual level and without damaging the definition of the word “business,” there is one place that anyone can go to anytime night or day. Where is that place? Consider, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” {Hebrews 4:16} Of course, this is done with the vehicle of prayer. For Christians, one preacher from yesteryear said of this verse: “Let us, therefore, though his mediation as our High-priest, approach with boldness to the throne of grace on which God is seated to hear our addresses, that we may receive pardon; and when tempted or persecuted, obtain the gracious assistance of his Spirit, to help us seasonably in such times of distress.” In other words, for those of us who know Jesus Christ as Saviour, we have access to our heavenly Father and He is available to us 24/7. This means that in the darkest of night when pain is the greatest, we may come to Him in prayer pleading for His help, grace, and comfort. Any true Christian may do this! What about people who are not Christians?
