The Terms of God

Since the beginning of time as we know it, people have been doing what they want. In terms of today’s language, it is called, “Doing my own thing.” Sadly, those who are doing “their own thing” are living for today without any thought about what they are doing or even the future consequence. For the most part they have the attitude of “It’s my life and I will do what I want, when I want, and where I want, and it is nobody’s business but mine.” In doing so, they forget that for every action there is a consequence, a day of reckoning if you will. When told what is being done is wrong, the response is, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” {Proverbs 12:15} “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but [emphasis added] the LORD pondereth the hearts.” {Proverbs 21:2} Those who are “doing their own thing” may be getting away with it for now but, “. . . be sure your sin will find you out.” {Numbers 32:23}

The terms of disposition of every soul are recorded in God’s Word, the Bible. There are those who deny His Word and even try to change it and ALL the attempts to do so have failed and will continue to do so. Why? Because God said so! “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” {Psalm 119:89}

God has a record of every human soul and some of those souls are recorded in His “Book of Life.” That is, those who have repented of sin and trusted Jesus Christ as personal Saviour by faith alone. Those who are “doing their own thing” will have a day of reckoning, a payday if you will and that day will be with God Himself. Only those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Saviour will go to Heaven when they die, and their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Speaking of those who have not trusted Him as Saviour we read, “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” {Revelation 21:27} What happens to those not in the Book of Life? “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” {Revelation 20:15} The terms of God are very clear and easy to be understood by those who really want to know.

What do you need to do to be saved? First, repent of your sins. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” {Acts 3:19} Put your faith [trust] in Jesus Christ as Saviour. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” {Romans 5:1} Because of God’s love and amazing grace, your sin debt has been paid in full by Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” {John 3:16} “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” {Romans 5:8} It was the death and shed blood of Jesus Christ that makes salvation possible for those who believe in Him. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” {1 Peter 1:18-19} For those who do trust Jesus Christ as Saviour there is this promise: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” {1 John 5:11,13}

Friend, these are the terms of God and there is no way around them. “He that believeth [emphasis added] on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not [emphasis added] the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” {John 3:36} Friend, how will you respond to the terms of God?
