Description

Opinions about America’s greatest problem varies from the economy, corrupt politicians of which there are many, crime, liberal left-wing news media, and more, but those are only symptoms of the problem. Now stop and think for a moment. If you developed a severe stomachache and had to go to the hospital, what would you prefer – a treatment for the problem or a treatment for the cause? The problem may be temporarily alleviated but what was the cause of it? Did you consume a food product that was not properly cooked, food that had begun to spoil a little, food that contained salmonella, etc.?  Whatever the problem was, the cause of it needed to be determined and then corrected.

Please consider this verse from God’s Word, the Bible. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” {Proverbs 14:34} Righteousness deals with just principles and actions, while sin is a reproach and brings on them the ill-will of others. The old-time preacher, Matthew Henry {1662-1714} wrote: “Justice, reigning in a nation, puts an honour upon it. A righteous administration of the government, impartial equity between man and man, public countenance given to religion, the general practice and profession of virtue, the protecting and preserving of virtuous men, charity and compassion to strangers  (alms are sometimes called righteousness), these exalt a nation; they uphold the throne, elevate the people’s minds, and qualify a nation for the favour of God, which will make them high, as a holy nation, De. 26:19” Henry also said, “Vice, reigning in a nation, puts disgrace upon it: Sin is a reproach to any city or kingdom, and renders them despicable among their neighbours. The people of Israel were often instances of both parts of this observation; they were great when they were good, but when they forsook God all about them insulted them and trampled on them. It is therefore the interest and duty of princes to use their power for the suppression of vice and support of virtue.”

Friend, the greatest America problem has is sin, sin in all quarters which includes true Christians or so-called Christians not living and being obedient to God’s Word and living as instructed. The justice system has become corrupted with courts not punishing criminals in accordance with God’s Word. God’s Word specifically mandates capital punishment for murder and rape, but the offenders only receive a short sentence of maybe life behind bars. Thieves only received a slap on the hand, homosexuality increases even though God said it is an abomination. “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” {Romans 1:27-32} Friend, like it or not, it is sin that is the greatest problem in America! Christians, true Christians, those who have truly repented of sin and received Jesus Christ as Saviour, need to get back living a life that brings honor and glory to Him. Others, though not true Christians, need to have respect once again for God by obeying His Word.

It is sin that is America’s greatest problem and unless/until sin is dealt with, America’s greatest problem will continue to grow and become worse. Those who profess to be a Christian on Sunday but live and talk like heathen the rest of the week, they need to truly repent and trust Jesus Christ as Saviour. He promised to forgive and save anyone who will do this; “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” {Romans 10:13} God loves all of humanity and He wants to see them saved. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” {John 3:16} It is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses people of their sin. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” {1 Peter 1:18-19} Our patient God does not want to see anyone die and go to hell: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” {2 Peter 3:9} This and this alone is what America NEEDS – TODAY – NOW!! The hope of America does not rest in Washington, DC or with any politician. It rests with God and He alone!!

Friend, do you personally know Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour? You can if you will repent and trust Him today. He has given this promise for those who do trust Jesus Christ as Saviour: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” {1 John 5:11, 13}

America’s greatest problem is sin, and you can do something about it by repenting and trust Jesus Christ as Saviour today and then live your live in a way that brings honor and glory to Him.
