Here is something to think about! If something is offered to you, that makes you a recipient. Agreed!? You understand that a “recipient” is someone who receives something. As the “recipient,” you now become accountable or answerable to its acceptance. The offer is made but you must be the one who decides to accept or deny it. That responsibility is yours and not that of anyone else. Not even the one who made the offer. Agreed!?
In 1833 George Wilson was sentenced to die by hanging as the result of robbing a federal mail carrier. Wilson was offered a pardon by President Andrew Jackson, but he rejected the offer. “The case went to the Supreme Court (United States v. Wilson), which ruled that a court cannot force a pardon on someone who does not want it.” How foolish it would be to reject the pardon knowing that the result would be hanging. Agreed!? “The Supreme Court views a pardon as a private act of grace that requires delivery and acceptance to be valid.” The United State Supreme Court is the highest legal authority in America and yet there is a higher authority than that.
