We live in an era where it seems that for almost every need a specialist must be contacted. A “specialist” may be defined as “a person who concentrates primarily on a particular subject or activity; a person highly skilled in a specific and restricted field.” In a general sense such a person may be referred to as a practitioner and the term would be legitimate because “A practitioner is a person who works in a profession or regularly does an activity that requires skill and training.” Not all “specialists” are available when needed for several reasons. For example, the business/office hours they keep, they are booked up, on vacation, weather delays, etc. For various medical needs the question of insurance may be a factor or to see a doctor, the patient may have to settle for being seen by a Physician Assistant [PA]. A PA is “a licensed healthcare professional who practices medicine on a healthcare team with physicians.” Hospitals and various medical facilities may offer 24/7 services, but that does not guarantee immediate service when needed, for various reasons. In fact, at any medical facility there exists the possibility of a patient never being seen or even turned away, and that can be disturbing. . . . Now then, with this said, are you aware that there is, shall we shall say, “THE General Practitioner” who has never had to cancel an appointment, has never had office hours, has never turned away anyone, and has never charged a fee.
