Description
INTRODUCTION:
Christmas is a holiday celebrated by Christians all over the world. Many non-Christian people will also observe this holiday for different reasons. Over the years, the true meaning of Christmas seems to have been completely forgotten and even ignored by the masses. In these latter days Christmas has become nothing more than a long merchandising celebration for many, if not most, stores. As early as August, some stores will begin to put on display Christmas decorations. By the time September arrives, much more Christmas merchandise is available; by October, just about every store will be displaying its Christmas wares.
During the Christmas season, homes are decked out with decorations galore. In some communities, it looks like homes are trying to compete with each other to see who can have the most decorated home. All sorts of festivities and parties take place and there is an over abundance of home baked food products to enjoy. With so much taking place during the Christmas season, we are left to wonder if the world has lost sight of why we have Christmas. It seems as though even Christians have been caught up with this and that they too have forgotten why we celebrate Christmas.
This small story started out with being a simple Christmas play to be used by churches. The original script would have only been a couple of pages. However, as the lines were being written, it began to unfold into something a little larger and hence, this small book. This will seem strange to some readers but, as I was writing and the thoughts kept coming, so many times I would say, “I have no idea why I am writing this, where I am going with it, or how I will get there.” Often I would tell the Lord that I did not understand why He was having me do this, especially since the writing of another book was not something intended. Many times, I prayed and asked the Lord for wisdom for writing this project that He would provide the help needed.
We know that the Lord never has us do something without a reason, even if we do not fully understand it, and such is the case now. With this thought in mind, we are reminded that, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” {I Corinthians 10:31} Having written this small book, it is my most sincere prayer that our loving Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, will use it for His honor and glory.
