FOREWORD FROM THE BOOK:
Before our Lord Jesus returned to His place in Heaven, He made clear that the church, all believers, were charged and commissioned to take the message of the gospel to all the world and to every creature. That charge is still valid and in practice. In Acts chapter 13 we see the clear illustration of a church commissioning and sending out missionaries. This is the basic pattern of today except there are many more local churches than in the days of Paul and Silas. The principle is still the same in that the missionary is sent or “deputized” to help the church fulfill her responsibility of taking the gospel to the world beyond. The difference now is that a church may have her own members sent out but also missionaries from sister churches may be deputized to represent them in the mission field. Therefore, we now have part of the process of the missionary going to the field they may be “deputized” by varying numbers of local churches.
This process of preparing the missionary for the work that God has called them to is called “deputation”. There are many perspectives of this stage of preparation. Some consider it a necessary part of the preparation and treat it as a necessary step, but only a necessity. This stage of preparation is much more than just a necessary step to be endured. If it is approached properly, this ministry can be a character builder, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The information provided you by Dr. Ciarrocca in this book gives you some valuable material to make this a profitable and successful ministry of deputation. You will find both practical do’s and don’ts based on spiritual principles. This is a voice of experience and information from other missionaries, as well as Dr. Ciarrocca. There is also some information that has been gained from a pastor’s experience.
