FOREWORD
The eighteenth-century writer and philosopher, Dr. Samuel Johnson, once said: “there are things worth seeing that are not worth GOING to see.” He was referring to sights around the world that he would like to see, but the journey involved was just not worth it. However, when it comes to what God is doing around the world, there are things worth seeing, and Dr. Richard Ciarrocca has recorded things he has observed on various mission trips in his 2nd volume of MISSION Trips and WHAT I HAVE LEARNED. Whenever Missionaries come to present their work in a Church service, we only get a brief introduction to their ministry and field. It is not possible for them to give us an in-depth view of what they experience on a daily basis. Brother Ciarrocca has done that in this book. During his many trips to various mission fields, he has observed things that Missionaries have to deal with on a daily basis, such as access (or no access) to water, electricity, car parts, medical care, building supplies, etc. Also, their dealings with government agencies and regulations. He shows how problems that are easily solved here in America (such as car repairs, travel, etc.) can be extremely difficult in a foreign country. These dear Missionaries deal with the ordinary hardships of life in a foreign land so that they can reach people with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is why they are there: to preach the Gospel, see souls saved, and establish Bible Believing Churches. I commend Brother Ciarrocca for writing this book and I heartily recommend it to everyone interested in New Testament Missions. It is well written. It is interesting and it is informative. It is obvious the writer has a heart for Missions and Missionaries. I trust the Lord will greatly bless it!
