Description
INTRODUCTION
E.M. Bounds wrote that “Prayer projects faith on God, and God on the world. Only God can move mountains, but faith and prayer move God. Faith is the foundation of Christian character and the security of the soul.” [The Necessity Of Prayer] Faith in God is the backbone of Christianity and prayer is the catalyst that causes it to function in the life of the believer. Prayer is the hinge on which answers from God swing. Prayer without faith would be like a hand without bones and muscles for the fingers providing limited value. Someone said, “Prayer is not a sentiment or a theory; it is a working instrument, which is to do certain things, just as a pen is to write, or a knife to cut.” [copied] As we commence our study about prayer, we will learn, or at least we should learn, the vital role that prayer has in the life of believers and why it should, of necessity, be employed daily. A closed tool chest accomplishes nothing; it must be opened, and the respective tools used. Next to the Word of God, prayer is the most valuable instrument believers have in their tool chest of life. In our study many sources will be quoted from and within those sources, where a Book of the Bible was used and abbreviated, the respective books are spelled out.
A little boy said his prayers preparatory to retiring for the night, while his prayerless father stood by. Rising from his knees, he said, “Now, father, I have said my prayers; have you said yours? Are you too big to pray?” –copied
