Laws, laws, and more laws! Everywhere we turn there are laws governing one thing or another. Granted, some laws seem pointless, but most are good and they serve a useful purpose. Take for example a traffic light. These exist for the orderly flow of traffic, but not everyone wants to obey them. People, for whatever reason, run red lights and when the police catch them, they have an excuse for why they ran the red light. But the policeman doing his job just replies, “Tell it to the judge.” Or the person caught exceeding the speed limit, “But officer, I was …” Again, the officer just says,”Tell it to the judge.” The law was established, but it was broken. Was that the fault of the officer? No, it was not. His job was to enforce the law. So, whose fault was it that the law was broken? It was the fault of the one who broke it. He did so with no regard to the consequence, so, “Tell it to the judge.” As someone has said, “Do the crime, do the time.” Or to phrase it another way, “Do the crime, pay the fine.” You don’t agree? Tell it to the judge! . . .
