The following is from the beginning of this tract:
There is a saying with some variation, that goes something like this, “Close but not quite.” In a game of horseshoes, a player came close to getting a ringer; the horseshoe hit the post but stood upright. Close but not quite. Regarding Heaven and people who have gone or will go there, sadly, so many miss Heaven by eighteen inches. Please permit this explanation.
Physical and Symbolic Measurements
Anatomical Distance: The straight-line or path length through the body depends on a person’s height, spine length, and chest size, usually measuring between 20 and 24 inches.
Metaphorical Distance: The famous saying “the 18 inches from your head to your heart” describes the figurative gap between what a person intellectually knows and what they truly feel or put into action.
The human brain is like a computer programmed with knowledge but until that knowledge is applied in some way, it serves no useful purpose. Nikita Khrushchev [late former Premier of the Soviet Republic] had a command of Scripture; he could quote Bible verses and, “It’s been widely purported that Khrushchev memorized all four Gospels during his childhood.” [copied] Though with a head full of Bible knowledge, Khrushchev was an atheist and missed Heaven by eighteen inches. Khrushchev had the knowledge of Scripture, but he did not allow it to penetrate his heart; as far . . . .
The final paragraph begins with this sentence: Friend, have you ever TRULY repented and trusted Jesus Christ as Saviour or are you Missing Heaven by Eighteen Inches?
