A mouse trap is available in all sizes, but it is designed to do one thing and that one thing is to kill a rodent. The mouse trap, when viewed, looks harmless and it is until it has been set. The bait, usually something that is desirable by a rodent, is placed in the trap. The unsuspecting creature will approach the trap and nibble the fare. Sometimes it gets away with the fare and enjoys it. The bait may be laced with poison and even though the rodent got away with it, what the rodent thought was good was the cause of its death. Other rodents sniff at the bait and like it, they go beyond sniffing to indulge it. And then – WHAM! There was NOT anything innocent about the mouse trap even though it may have looked like it.
Friend, sin of any type or kind is NOT innocent and. . . . . As a metaphor, the mouse trap is something that people may avoid if they want to. Lost people, those who have not trusted Jesus Christ as Saviour, need to repent and trust Him. Christians, true Christians, those who are not Christian in name only, need to “. . . Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” {Galatians 5:16}
