Time & Eternity

“What’s the hurry? I have plenty of time,” someone may say. Alas though, as he lingers, timecontinues to march on, at a snail’s pace, but nonetheless, continuing onward. Time – though not seen, still it exists; though not heard, yet its presence is felt, for all experience it. Timemay be measured by clocks and calendars, but it cannot be harnessed nor restrained. Though the clocks may be stopped, the seconds continue to pass by, unimpeded. As time advances onward, its course never changing, eternity awaits its arrival. Eternity – it has no beginning or end, for it is infinite. In the eternal state, time has no meaning, for it ceases to exist – it is consumed by eternity. Sooner or later for all of mortal mankind, time runs out as eternity beckons. No matter what the status of an individual’s life, time and eternity wait for no man! . . .

The Verdict Is In

If someone would have asked me 15 years ago to describe a “born again” person, I would have given the example of a phony, self-righteous person who, after “getting religion,” would use the title to somehow vindicate himself from any wrong doing and excuse his behavior.

The moment I became “born again,” however, I realized what the term truly meant: that I was eternally forgiven from all my sins and I had a right standing before God. And I know it! And it’s Biblical! And it’s imperative! . . .

The Price Of A Soul

price of a soulDOWN through the ages there have been many items that man has termed as being “priceless,” or invaluable. Priceless objects have a variety of forms. For instance, to a stamp collector a certain stamp is so rare that it is “priceless.” To a coin collector a certain coin is so rare that it is “priceless.” To the art collector a certain piece of art, and to a book collector a certain book, and so on. In some cases a person will risk everything, even his own life to obtain that “priceless” object.

Perhaps the most universal and cherished “priceless” object of all is freedom. Nations go to war, committing all they have, literally, just to preserve their freedom – it is “priceless.” Husbands and sons, and in some cases even daughters and mothers, go forth to fight and die for their freedom – it is “priceless.”

Of all the “priceless” objects, none are eternal, for sooner or later they will pass away.

There is one other “priceless” object that we have not mentioned. It is not only “priceless,” it is eternal. This object has had a life given and blood shed for it. What is it? The eternal soul of a human being. Your eternal soul! . . .

The Maze Of Life

maze of lifeHave you ever tried to do a maze puzzle? It’s one of those puzzles where you go in one end, and try to find the way out. You go way, only to find a dead end, so you try another, sometimes backtracking in an effort find the correct route. There’s only one way through the maze and you have to try every option available.

Well, here you are, in this “maze” of life seeking the source of true contentment and happiness. You’ve already tried other routes, all of which ended with disappointment and a dead end. “Another route,” you say to yourself, “I’ll try another way!” The way of material things – “If I can only buy that new car, dress, suit, boat, etc., then I’ll be satisfied.” And so you did, but only to find another dead end and disappointment. Other routes? Yes, you’ve tried them all; the route of new job, new town, new friends, new hobby, new entertainment, new this, and new that. You even went so far as to try the route of “church” or “religion”, but that didn’t work either. The maze of life; there’s only one route or path through it that leads to contentment and happiness. Want to know what it is, the solution to the maze? OK, here it is. . . .

Salvation and Eternal Security

excerpt from the gospel tract:

“Can I be saved from my sins? And if I do get saved, what happens if I sin again? Will I lose my salvation?” Have you ever had these questions, or similar ones on your mind? Did you know that it is possible for any person to know how to be saved, and then to have the assurance of that salvation and eternal security (eternal salvation)? That’s right! You can know right now how to be saved for all eternity. Want to know? Good! Here’s how. . . .

————————————-

So many people do not understand the biblical doctrine of eternal security. The PFBP Gospel tract “Salvation and Eternal Security” gives a brief but biblical presentation of this subject. So many people have a “I think so” I may be saved mentality, but they lack any real assurance. Many well known Bible teachers (so-called) have the “I think so” idea; God’s Word is absolute on a “I know so”understanding of salvation and eternal security.

Real Peace In A Troubled World

The Berlin wall has come down, and the Communist barbed wire and guard posts are gone. We are told that Communism is dead, and that those countries and people once under Communist rule are now free. We’re told that the world is at peace, so they say. The truth of the matter is that the world is NOT at peace. In 1994 American armed forces were sent to Haiti. In Rwanda Hutu and Tutu slaughtered each other. In Bosnia the country is destroyed by ethnic fighting. Iraq rattles its war sabers while Israelis are being shot at by their foes and murdered by homicide bombers. And so the list grows and goes. Thepresident of the United States sends forth his Secretary of State of negotiate peace while dispatching the military to enforce it. The fact is, world peace just does not exist – it cannot in a world so ravaged by sin! It’s no wonder that individual people and whole nations are in constant turmoil. But don’t despair, friend, for peace, that quietness and rest, is possible in this present world of chaos. . . .

No Time For God

Busy, busy, busy! People everywhere are just so busy and they have no time for God. For the young person the attitude is, “Please, I am too young and, besides, I have my whole life to live. Perhaps later I will have time for God.” But the Bible says, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth” (Ecclesiastes 12:1)

As the years pass by and college is entered, there is still no time for God. “Please, not now! I am so busy studying and working my way through college that I have no time for God. That will have to wait until afterwards.”

College graduation passes and the next phase of life begin; find a job and get established. “Can’t you see that I just got this job that is so time consuming and I have very little time for myself. I’m really sorry but there is just no time for God right now. Perhaps later on there will be.” . . .

Look & Live

look and liveIf you received a deadly snake bite, what would you do, submit to the prescribed treatment or question and doubt it? Would you first have to have all of your medical questions answered about the treatment? Would you rely on your own ability to provide the needed cure? Or would you do what common sense tells you to do, realize that you are in a serious condition and about to die, and without further delay accept the offered cure for what it is, the only remedy, your only hope. . . .
