Time & Eternity

“What’s the hurry? I have plenty of time,” someone may say. Alas though, as he lingers, timecontinues to march on, at a snail’s pace, but nonetheless, continuing onward. Time – though not seen, still it exists; though not heard, yet its presence is felt, for all experience it. Timemay be measured by clocks and calendars, but it cannot be harnessed nor restrained. Though the clocks may be stopped, the seconds continue to pass by, unimpeded. As time advances onward, its course never changing, eternity awaits its arrival. Eternity – it has no beginning or end, for it is infinite. In the eternal state, time has no meaning, for it ceases to exist – it is consumed by eternity. Sooner or later for all of mortal mankind, time runs out as eternity beckons. No matter what the status of an individual’s life, time and eternity wait for no man! . . .

The Cross

the crossIN ancient times one of the most horrible methods of execution known to man was crucifixion on a cross. Victims were known to endure the agony of the cross for hours and in some cases, days, before dying. To die on a cross was a shame, for the Bible says, “…: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” (Gal. 3:13b)

ALL crosses were instruments of death, but not all were the same. Of all the crosses, history records that one was destined to be different. Perhaps the carpenter who made it did not realize that this particular one would become famous – but God knew! It stood on a hill, outside of the city; a place away from the populace, a place of death. It had been borne there by a man under orders from the Roman army, a man who was just passing through.

THE “criminal” was brought to the cross and had his hands and feet nailed to it by . . .

Salvation and Eternal Security

excerpt from the gospel tract:

“Can I be saved from my sins? And if I do get saved, what happens if I sin again? Will I lose my salvation?” Have you ever had these questions, or similar ones on your mind? Did you know that it is possible for any person to know how to be saved, and then to have the assurance of that salvation and eternal security (eternal salvation)? That’s right! You can know right now how to be saved for all eternity. Want to know? Good! Here’s how. . . .

————————————-

So many people do not understand the biblical doctrine of eternal security. The PFBP Gospel tract “Salvation and Eternal Security” gives a brief but biblical presentation of this subject. So many people have a “I think so” I may be saved mentality, but they lack any real assurance. Many well known Bible teachers (so-called) have the “I think so” idea; God’s Word is absolute on a “I know so”understanding of salvation and eternal security.

Real Peace In A Troubled World

The Berlin wall has come down, and the Communist barbed wire and guard posts are gone. We are told that Communism is dead, and that those countries and people once under Communist rule are now free. We’re told that the world is at peace, so they say. The truth of the matter is that the world is NOT at peace. In 1994 American armed forces were sent to Haiti. In Rwanda Hutu and Tutu slaughtered each other. In Bosnia the country is destroyed by ethnic fighting. Iraq rattles its war sabers while Israelis are being shot at by their foes and murdered by homicide bombers. And so the list grows and goes. Thepresident of the United States sends forth his Secretary of State of negotiate peace while dispatching the military to enforce it. The fact is, world peace just does not exist – it cannot in a world so ravaged by sin! It’s no wonder that individual people and whole nations are in constant turmoil. But don’t despair, friend, for peace, that quietness and rest, is possible in this present world of chaos. . . .

Hey Teenager!

teenager with boom boxWait a minute! I know that you are in a hurry to go somewhere, but could you slow down long enough to give me about three minutes of your time? Teenagers seem to be so busy much of the time – always in a hurry to go somewhere or do something, and that’s what I’d like to talk to you about, just for a moment.

Perhaps you are not aware of it, but as you hurry to go somewhere in life, there are those who, under the disguise of “friend”, would seek to lead you astray. You may say, “Come on, mister, my ‘friends’ would never do that to me.” But…all too often it does happen. In fact, the Bible tells of one such case. In 2 Samuel 13:3-5 we read where Amnon, one of the sons of King David had a “friend” named Jonadab who gave some bad advise to Amnon. Amnon had a half-sister named Tamar, and he desired to have a sexual relation with her. Jonadab, the “friend”, gave a suggestion on how to arrange it. In the end we find Tamar disgraced and Amnon dead as a result.

As a teenager undoubtedly you have many friends, . . .

Have You Been Born Again?

born againThe question is not, “Are you a member of a church?” or “Have you been baptized?”. The question is, Have You Been Born Again? There’s a vast difference between being born again and having membership in a church, or having been baptized. Church membership does not make one a Christian any more than working in a garage makes one a vehicle, and baptism has no saving merit whatsoever. Just as a physical birth was necessary for you to come into this world, so, too, a spiritual birth is required for you to go to Heaven. That’s what being “born-again” means – to have experienced a spiritual birth. According to God’s Word, the Bible, before anyone can go to Heaven he or she must be born-again, “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (Jn. 3:3). Those who are not born-again do not go to Heaven when they die . . .

God’s Plan For Salvation

Gods plan for salvationThe word “salvation” means deliverance or preservation and may be applied to material objects and physical or spiritual life. A person who is drowning needs to be rescued (saved), and that requires help from someone else since he (the person who is drowning) is powerless to save himself. Without that help he would drown and his physical life would forever be lost. The same is true of the eternal soul of mankind, for God created man with an eternal soul (Ecclesiastes 12:7). The physical body will die but the soul goes on forever in one of two places—Heaven or Hell. Please allow me to share with you God’s Plan For Salvation.

1. The Need For Salvation.

2. The Remedy For Salvation.

3. The Way To Salvation.

4. The Assurance Of Salvation.

Death Unexpected

IN a song titled, “Death Unexpected,” the song writer wrote these words,  “…death unexpected, I surely was surprised, …” Death unexpected, it happens when one least expects it! A new-born child is put in its crib for a nap, never to awaken again. A young child playing in a street is struck by a moving vehicle or a stray bullet from a street gang fight. A teenager overdoses on drugs, or dies in an automobile accident while out “joy riding” with some friends. A policeman or firefighter is killed in the line of duty, a construction worker on the job, or someone sitting in the quietness of their home – death unexpected! A terrorist’s bomb, or just a heart attack -death unexpected! You name it, it happens all the time – death unexpected! It happens without warning often when one is in the prime of life and the future, humanly speaking, looks bright, but there it is – death unexpected! Unannounced, unwanted, unprohibited! Standing as a monument to the grim reminder of death is the graveyard, a perpetual testimony to the mortality of mankind. Death unexpected, no respecter of person regardless of wealth, fame, education, societal influence, etc. When death unexpected comes calling, all must answer and yield.

Death unexpected, we cannot prevent it from happening, but we can be prepared for it when it does. How? By trusting Jesus Christ as personal Saviour. Those who have repented of sin and received Christ as Saviour are prepared for physical death, for they know they are forgiven and saved, and at death though the body is placed in the ground, their eternal soul will forever be with God in Heaven (2 Co. 5:6-8). For the Christian, death is not to be feared, for it has no hold – it is a vanquished foe (1 Co. 15:53-55). How can this be?. . .

The Christ of Christmas

Christmas Gospel Tract

It hardly seems possible, but another year is about to pass by, and as it does the attention of everyone turns to the festive activities. The main attraction, of course, is Christmas. As we enter the stores, we see just about everything a person could possibly need for Christmas. The music of Christmas fills the air. Those holiday plans that have been in the making will soon be realized. Boys and girls, and yes, men and women are beginning to get excited! The closer Christmas comes, the more the excitement mounts! Christmas Day is fast approaching and we are frantically engaged in last minute details – last minute shopping, gifts to wrap, baking to be done, tree to be put up – will we ever be ready for Christmas? But somehow we make it and that eventful morning dawns. The children are up early and tearing open their gifts as Mom and Dad watch and take pictures. The day is filled with fun and games, visiting friends and relatives, Christmas dinner, etc. But just a moment! Didn’t we forget something? Could it be, that in spite of our carefully made plans, something obvious was overlooked? . . .
