DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
and
SEPARATED PRACTICE

1. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, and of the sixty-six books which comprise the complete revelation of God to man for all ages and that we have God's preserved Word in the Authorized Version of 1611 and that ALL other English translations are corrupt. We further believe that the Bible is the believer's all sufficient rule for faith and practice. (II Tim. 3:16, 17)

2. We believe that there is but one God who is the Creator (Gen. 1:1), Preserver (Neh. 9:6), and the Ruler of the universe (I Chron. 29:11, 12). He is infinite in wisdom (Ps. 147:5), holy (Isa. 6:3), perfect in love (I Jn. 3:1), measureless in power (Mt. 19:26). This same God is manifested in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Mt. 3:16-17).

3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is true God and true man and is the only and sufficient mediator between God and man (Mt. 1:20; Lk. 1:35; Jn. 1:1, 2, 14; 12:45; 14:9; I Tim. 2:5). We believe in Christ's death, burial and bodily resurrection and that He now sits at the right hand of the Father.

4. We believe that man is in a state of total depravity and can do nothing to save himself from the eternal damnation that awaits him. The only hope for man is found in the salvation of Christ, a free gift offered to all who accept Christ as Lord and Saviour (Jn. 3:16, 36; Eph. 2:8, 9; Rom. 1:16, 17).

5. We believe that because man is in a state of total depravity as a result of initial sin, salvation is an absolute necessity. The salvation that God now offers to man is an act of grace on His part, and that we accept this gift by faith, not of works. Those who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour are born again of the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God. We believe that once we are saved, we are saved for all eternity. We cannot lose our salvation (Eph. 2:8, 9; Jn. 3:3, 7, 16; 1:12; 10:27-29; Eph. 1:13, 14). Repentance is an absolute condition to salvation (Luke 13:2-5).

The importance of the shed blood of Christ for remission of our sins cannot be emphasized enough. To minimize the blood of Christ, or to change it to anything else, is heresy.

6. We believe that the Church is made up of all those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, that is, those who have been regenerated by the Spirit of God and have by that same Spirit been baptized into the body of Christ (I Pt. 1:3; 22-25; I Cor. 12:13). We believe that the local church was established at the same time as the universal Church, and is to glorify God (Rom. 15:6, 9), edify itself (Eph. 4:11-16), purify itself (Eph. 5:26, 27), educate its members (Eph. 4:11-12), evangelize the world (Mt. 28:19) and to act as a restraining and enlightening force in the world (Mt. 5:13-16).

7. We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the Church and the pre-millennium return of Christ. We believe that we are living in a day of compromise and departure from the Word of God: a time when men who once stood for the fundamentals of the Bible have since fallen away; a time when men refuse to take a stand, but rather evade the issue. Therefore, we have concluded that we must take a stand for what we believe to be truly fundamental. Therefore, we declare ourselves to be out of harmony with, and therefore do not approve, the following:

    A. Neo-Orthodoxy - a subtle form of liberalism, involving an alteration of terms of the faith without strict adherence to the truth of the God-inspired text.

    B. Neo-Evangelicalism - a further blurring of the distinction between fundamentalism and liberalism, resulting in an unscriptural, unequal yoke. There cannot be a scriptural mixing of evangelicals with liberal elements in Evangelization efforts.

    C. The Ecumenical Movement - which is the moving together of religious bodies. This is accomplished by dialogue (emphasizing the points of agreement and de-emphasizing the points of doctrinal divergence) and gradualism. Such would be the National Council of Churches, World Council of Churches, and the Roman Catholic Church.

    D. The Charismatic Movement - which believes in speaking in tongues and the gift of healing. (We believe that these were for the Apostolic age only, and have since ceased.)

    E. Pseudo-Fundamentalists - those who claim to be fundamental and associates with fundamentalists while at the same time share the platform of Neo-Evangelical, Ecumenical, and Charismatic groups, thus incurring identification with them.

We believe that the Scriptures are quite clear on matters of Biblical separation. We are in the world but not of it (Jn. 15:19). The Apostle Paul was quite explicit when speaking on separation from a wayward brother (I Cor. 5:11; II Thess. 3:6). We believe that we are to love them and pray for them.

We do not seek or desire fellowship with those who are party to, or in sympathy with, the aforementioned.

The Bible teaches separation but not isolation. We are to come out from the world and its ways, which are Satan's, but we must not withdraw to the place that we cannot evangelize the unsaved. The Essenes practiced separation to that point. We are in the world, but not part of it, and we must not forget it. By God's grace we shall stand firm on the true concept of Biblical separation.
